I'm not particularly good with words, but I wanted to share how much I thought of Steve as a friend and respected him as an engineer. I first met Steve a long time ago, working with him on a difficult project, when I was probably a keen (and annoying) new Tech Manager. On a personal level he was so welcoming, generous with his time (despite always being in high demand) and humble (despite being in a very senior position). And as an engineer he blew me away, taking me through his logic, decision process and also understanding from my perspective, and always with the same calmness that was infectious. These are very rare qualities all in one person and hence I always think of Steve as the founder of common sense airworthiness! Naturally as I worked him more, my respect grew and hence Steve became a mentor throughout my career because I wanted to emulate him. So I was really chuffed when he joined Eurofighter and we worked, and shared a few masses, together on the Hellbergmoos adventure! It's still difficult to comprehend he's gone and I will truly miss Steve. My thoughts and sympathies to all his family, Richard C.
